Robert Marzec

Robert J. Marzec currently serves on the Board of Directors of three public companies.  He serves as the Chair of the Audit Committee and a Member of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee for Apogee Enterprises, Inc,; as the Chair of the Audit Committee and a Member of both the Nominating and Finance Committees for Health Fitness Corporation; and as the Chair of the Audit Committee and a Member of the Compensation Committee and the Governance and Nominating Committee for Medtox Scientific, Inc.

Mr. Marzec’s board and committee experience encompasses implementation of Sarbanes – Oxley section 404 – internal controls, strategic planning, various merger and acquisition activities, a special investigation, compensation plans and disclosures and the recruiting of new board members

From 2002 to 2006, Mr. Marzec served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of St. Thomas, teaching financial analysis in the MBA program. 

Mr. Marzec was with PricewaterhouseCoopers for 36 years, from 1966 to 2002, progressing in scope, responsibility and leadership throughout his tenure.  He was the Minneapolis Office Managing Partner from 1991-1998. Mr. Marzec’s auditing experience encompasses being a lead engagement partner on several multinational Fortune 1000 companies. He has also been involved in numerous SEC debt, equity and initial public offerings and with various mergers and acquisitions, including public reporting aspects as well as due diligence and post-merger integration.  In addition, Mr. Marzec has significant international experience including assisting foreign investors in the United States.

Mr. Marzec has a bachelor’s in accounting from Northwestern University and a master’s in business administration from DePaul University.   He has served on numerous non-profit boards and committees. Currently, Mr. Marzec is serving on the board of the Metropolitan YMCA of Minneapolis and is the audit committee chairman for the Minneapolis Club.
